Great Experience with Travel and Teach Recruiting

My recruiter Jaemin was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. This will be the first time I am travelling abroad for work so I was a little unsure about the whole process. Jaemin was always available to answer any questions and made the entire experience easy and enjoyable. He worked quickly to set up interviews with good schools and upon receiving a job offer he continued to help throughout the contract and visa process. Despite the challenging times of dealing the the ongoing pandemic, he was accommodating and adaptive to the everchanging situation. I would recommend this service to anyone who is looking to find a position teaching abroad.

Great!

Travel and Teach was my recruiting agency and I highly recommend them. I moved to teach English in South Korea during COVID-19 and they were great with making sure everything still went smoothly. They vet the schools really well so you will end up at a good private school. I love my school, there are plenty of other friendly foreign teachers, and have already gotten the hang of teaching only two weeks into it! Hours can be long (but rewarding!) so make sure you love teaching and kids. My small city is also great, but my advice would be to look for a good school over a famous city because that's where you will be spending most of your time.

Hi Kathleen,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review - it's so nice to hear that you are happy with our services!

We are also so happy to hear that you are enjoying your school so much. We also completely agree with what you said about choosing a school over a 'famous city'. Most people get too caught up in the idea of working in a city that they have heard of rather than to look into the actual schools themselves. Having worked with some of our schools for 20+ years, we know that teachers will be happy there, regardless of the city they are in. The great thing about Korea is that you can travel anywhere in the country within hours anyway!

Enjoy your time and do let us know if you need anything!

Travel and Teach Recruiting Agency - ESL Teacher Placement

My experience with Travel and Teach Recruiting has been AMAZING!!! Every step was clear and easy to follow and my recruiting agent, Jaemin, was the best. He was quick at answering any questions I had. They made the tedious process of collecting a visa so easy and stress free. I highly recommend this service to anyone that is considering teaching abroad. The biggest perk is the fact that you never have to pay anything and they ensure to place you in a school and city that matches your needs and wants. If you're looking for recruiters look no further and just stick to Travel and Teach, you will not regret it!

Travel & Teach - BEST Recruiter Service

Jaemin from Travel & Teach was an absolute PLEASURE to work with! The process of securing employment and moving abroad can be very unfamiliar and stressful for someone if its their first time, however Jaemin broke everything down and made the entire process very painless and straightforward! I was especially impressed as a Canadian as most visa assistance resources are geared towards Americans, but he knew the details of dealing with Canadian applicants as well as other nationalities!

I researched and applied to many recruiters but I always felt confident when speaking to Jaemin and he did a fantastic job in matching me to the perfect school for me, instead of just recommending that I work with whichever school was hiring at the time. He always answered all my questions very quickly and in great detail. He provided me with dozens of resources to educate me on moving abroad, learning a new culture and customs, and becoming an ESL teacher.

Selecting which recruiter you want to work with is a very important decision and you should feel completely confident in their abilities and trust them to advocate for your needs. Jaemin exemplified all of these qualities and I would absolutely recommend Jaemin and Travel & Teach when deciding on a recruiter, you won't be disappointed! :)

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice to future travelers is to not let anything or anyone hold you back from your dreams. Be fearless and follow through with your decisions and take full advantage of living abroad and in interacting with the other foreign teachers as well as your students. There's something to learn from everyone and this experience will end up being one of the best you'll ever have.

Travel And Teach in Korea—A Definite YES!

I’ve been planning on teaching English in Korea for over a year now, and Travel and Teach Recruiting was highly recommended to me by a friend of mine who used them to find a reputable school and a stable position. I was not disappointed! They found a great school for my friend and me to teach at together with a higher paying salary than most positions and a comfortable apartment. They offered step-by-step guidance throughout the entire visa application process, too, which received a lot of stress, especially while applying during the Covid-19 pandemic. If you are looking for a way to experience international culture/travel while earning a living (also if you’re good with kids ;)), I highly recommend Travel and Teach recruiting!

Alumni Interviews

These are in-depth Q&A sessions with verified alumni.

Why did you choose this program?

Life is full of the unknown and the what ifs – keep in mind the hungry wolves that try to cheat and steal from you.

I chose this program because I wanted a trustworthy and reliable anchor in the deep waters of finding a job thousands of miles away – a job in a country with different traditions, food, and above all, a different language.

What did your program provider assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The program assisted me with far more than just what was expected. They gave me step by step instructions from what they need from me (like my CV) and even country specific information.

As I am from South Africa, they gave me the locations and operating times of where I have to go with my documents, step by step. They also provided me with a Teacher’s Manual and a guide for my first few days in Korea.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

I would say do not hesitate to ask questions. This is your future that we are talking about. You have to be sure that you understand what is required of you and what is expected from your employer.

The agency normally has a correspondent in your country of choice, so ask all the questions you need. The correspondent will make sure there is no language gaps (and you will have it on black and white, just in case).

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

I am at a Hagwon so that means this is a private school. I start work at 10 am and then we end at 6:30. In the mornings, I have kindergarten kids. We just play and basically have a great time while learning English. The afternoons are more of a language school setup. This means kids come in and they have books, and we go through it and help out where we can.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change

Meeting new people - BIG ONE.

I can honestly say, just meet one person and the rest is history. If your co-workers have been there for a while, it is much easier to meet new people. The expat community is really your new family over there. There are groups on Facebook that also help out, with regular meet-ups or events taking place in your city.

What will you pack that is out of the ordinary?

The things you miss the most about home is not really the things that you would expect. It is not the jams that you sang along to on the radio or the even the special at your favorite restaurant.

It`s the small things that you miss like the headache pill from back home or your brand of aftershave. The pillowcase in your room and your favorite seasoning.

A sentimental little thing can truly help you through the home-sick days.

What is your favorite travel memory?

My family immigrated to Canada when I was 14 and lived here ever since. For the first time in 20 years, I had visited my home country, South Korea in the fall of 2018. It was an eye-opening experience. Although I was already familiar with the culture, the reality exceeded my expectations, and the whole trip was just so beautiful to me. It sure embarks to be one of my favorite cherishable moments in my life!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I joined Travel and Teach after gaining experience at different varieties of the corporate culture. I worked in executive recruitment, inside sales and account management of various companies. Ever since I joined the company, I felt very much at home and engaged with the whole aspect of the company. My job is simple, it is to fulfill other people's dreams by being a responsible recruiter, and with my background knowledge of the culture, business and market, I feel responsible to make sure that the teachers get the best jobs in Korea.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

The best story I heard from one of the teachers I placed was that after the whole year, a teacher emailed me with her amazing experience in Korea, thanked me for her time and she just made a decision to stay over there for a few more years to do the Master's Degree in Korean University - I felt I had contributed in her important decision and was happy that she was excited about the future.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

There are many many things that I would like to do again if I can go back to my 20s and do things over again. One thing for sure will be teaching English Abroad. The idea of traveling and teaching at the same time, exploring another culture, learning a new language, meeting amazing people, and gaining the lesson in life that you will not learn from anywhere else is just fascinating for me and I think it is something you should definitely explore.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Our team works very well together. We have one simple rule - our reputation is everything - we would not jeopardize our company values being affiliated with schools that are troublesome. We hear all the horror stories and I feel awful about them, and I do my best to clearly communicate to the teachers of their expectations and what the reality is. Clear feedback loop and clear communication among the coworkers create harmonious work environment and that is why I love my job!

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

The biggest factor in being a successful company is to have passion and drive. You may have all the great ideas in the world and if you do not work hard on it, the outcome will not be so great. If you have the wrong agenda and work hard at it, the outcome can be undesirable. I am lucky to have a work environment where I can thrive to be better and motivated on daily basis!
