English Wizards

Hello, I'm Prenavin Naidoo an ELT teacher from Johannesburg, South Africa and I have been honoured to join the English Wizards community since February 2021.

English Wizards is a community of fellow teachers that have a passion for education and creating opportunities for people from all different places and spheres of influence to collaborate and make a positive difference in the lives of students through English as a Foreign language.

My experience has been life changing, I have met so many incredible people and had the privilege to undergo the power-packed and engaging business internship, which is truly just world-class. The English Wizards team have been super supportive and with community managers that are just super-human at times always ready to help and hold our hands through this new journey navigating life as a teacher in Poland.

One of the most unique parts for me about English Wizards is how detailed and informative they are. They assist teachers every step of the way with a smile! Literally from when you select your package, getting your visas/work permits to getting on the plane, fetching you upon your arrival, making sure you settled in your hostel or helping to arrange your accommodation and even when you start at your first school, there is always some from the team who can give you advice like lesson plan tip and even where to get that essential euro plug- this is not just a B2B teaching Business they are the experts with a heart for growing teachers.

I have been teaching in Poland through English Wizards's Freelance Teaching program for just about one year. I moved to Krakow about a month before the pandemic hit Europe, so it has been an interesting year to say the least. I have, however, been extremely pleased with the service and support that English Wizards offers. They help with all the logistical challenges involved with moving to a new country, and they are helpful and communicative if issues arrive. Krakow is an amazing place to live. I taught abroad in Madrid before Poland and I love the flexibility that I have working with English Wizards, compared to my experience in the Auxiliares program. I would highly recommend English Wizards!

I've really enjoyed my time out here.

I really wanted to explore and get to know Poland a bit more.

I've enjoyed my time socializing with other teachers but I've also enjoyed meeting locals and making local friends.

English Wizards have always been able to support me, if I had a question it was answered and if I needed help it was always offered.

The internship was intense but I had such a good time with my fellow teachers doing it. We all had a sense of comradery among us. Between learning new skills and practicing on real-life students, we socialized and saw the sites.

I'm now living in the heart of Krakow, my room is small and I work a lot but I expected this.

I wanted to come to Europe, I wanted to work as a teacher and I wanted to meet new people. I've done all of that and more.

So I recommend the program if you fancy something different than the standard 9-5.

Working and living in Europe has always been a dream of mine. Being a South African, it’s rather challenging to find work in an EU country. English Wizards made my dream a reality. I am part of their freelance program and it was one of the best things to happen to me during 2020. The interview process was easy though very thorough, they took care of my work permit application and they provided me with guidance with my visa application and getting to Poland. I like the fact that the Wizards have such a vast range of teaching jobs to choose from and the application process is seamless. Through their communication channel, we are kept up to date with any relevant information we need. Their team namely Nick, Ricky and Karolina are absolute stars to work with. I highly recommend English Wizards if you would like to enhance your adventures by teaching English in Poland.

Moving aboard to work always feels a little risky. English Wizards helped me feel more secure. They helped with the hardest parts of moving and working abroad.

The English Wizards program set me up for success. I was new to teaching english. The program not only gave me experience but gave me priceless guidance, tips, and tricks. It was intensive and rigorous, but entirely worth it. My classmates and I encouraged and supported each other throughout making it a fantastic learning environment. The hands-on experience and practice allowed me to be more confident and capable in front of my students. Overall, the experience made me a better teacher and without it teaching wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable.

Many of the daunting things regarding moving and working abroad, were made much easier by English Wizards. They provided some help to me with all of the following:
- getting a work permit
- how to get to Poland (flights) (during a pandemic this is not easy to navigate but they provided much needed guidance)
- Getting a Job
- Getting an Apartment
- Getting my Government paperwork figured out
- Making friends
- Navigating the Covid restrictions
- and much more!

TL;DR: It can be scary and risky to move and work abroad. English Wizards and their program helped me feel more secure and set me up for success.
