Price Details
The fellowship is funded through support from alumni, grants, and our partners. Fellowship funding provides:
— Three weeks of training
— Emergency medical and evacuation insurance
— Living and housing stipend (based on local cost of living)
— Intra-Asia travel (from training to your post and wrap-up conference)
— Language grants for lessons, tutors, or online / self-study resources
Fellows are responsible for the cost of:
— Vaccinations
— Initial visa costs ($150-$300, depending on country)
— Roundtrip airfare to/from Asia (usually around $2,000)
— Meals and optional activities during training ($300-$500)
— Personal travel while at post or after fellowship has ended

About Program
The Global Community Fellowship is a 13-15 month program for starting and established professionals. Fellows work at NGOs, social enterprises, and educational organizations across Asia to support community development, capacity-building, and education. VIA's approach to service and collaboration is focused on community-driven impact, building peer connections, and the values of humility and respect. The fellowship is generously funded by alumni, partners, and grants.

- Training & Capacity-building — Fellows develop training resources and curricula for partners to enhance their organizational operations and optimize for impact.
- Community Development — Fellows support community development and international communication efforts by facilitating access resources, networks, and collaboration opportunities.
- Professional Network — Fellows join a cohort of peers who inspire and support each other, and become members of a 57-year strong community of VIA alumni around the world.
Fellows must have at least a 4-year undergraduate (bachelor's) degree by the time they start their fellowship, so typically that means the minimum age is 21. There is no maximum age limit.
