I have recently graduated with 120-hour TESOL certificate from ITTT. The course content was really helpful, and most importantly, practical, and is worlds away from theoretical content that I learnt during my undergraduate studies. While the course content is brief and accessible to anyone, I am sure it includes all you need to get off to flying start as a new ESL teacher. The ESA methodology was really great, enabling ESL teachers to implement it in the classroom setting. I strongly recommend this course to anyone who looks for a practical, fun, and accessible teaching method, and wants to enhance their teaching skill and knowledge.

I recently finished the 120-hour course as part of my 550-hour course package. Even as a native English speaker, I still learned a lot of valuable things about the language that will go a long way in helping me teach it to non-English speakers. I think it really helped me get an idea of not only how to teach English but also how to interact and connect with students as their teacher. Most units also have a lot of great tips for teachers of any experience level, which I think will be very useful in the future!

What would you improve about this program?

I think what I would improve is allowing students to retake the tests 1 time. This not only would improve their overall score, but also gives them a chance to prove to themselves they really understand the material after further study if they didn't do well on the initial attempt. That would build confidence in their knowledge, which would make for a better teacher in the long run.

I've been wanted to get a TESOL diploma for years, and finally found the time during the pandemic isolation period. It was exhilarating, challenging, and most of the time fun. I really looked forward to getting up every morning and diving into the latest unit. I feel confident that I would be able to start teaching in a classroom (although will be frightening at first, of course) quite successfully after all I've learned during the course. Someday soon I hope to be able put this knowledge to use either in person or online. Recommended highly.

What was your funniest moment?

Also the saddest moment. When I looked through all the various topics we would be covering and realizing that I somehow passed all my English courses all through the years in public school but didn't remember hardly anything about the various parts of speech and how to explain them. I'm a voracious reader rarely have to refer to a dictionary, but the technical descriptions of what the words & phrases actually were (conjunctions, future present continuous, modal verbs, prepositions, gerunds (!?) etc. etc.) had completely disappeared from my brain. I basically started from scratch and am much the better for it.

Above all, I am thankful I choose this course. The content is relevant and beneficial. If I had a question, a tutor would respond within one day, usually sooner. The course provides numerous resources, materials, and ideas towards lesson planning that are beneficial. The video component is a great addition as it helped answer questions I had or provided a useful illustration. I have not applied for a job yet. However, after completing the 120-course, additional material was provided to aid the job hunt. Some units are longer, and some are shorter, but some topics have more information.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

Grammar/tense system: I created a spreadsheet with all the applied rules, another designated to the forms and examples for each tense and studied from it.

I just finished my first 120-hour course with ITTT. I've been an English and Reading teacher in the US for 30 years, and I learned an enormous amount on how to present and teach English to students not familiar with the language. The course materials and videos were great.

I took an online course and look forward to taking my next two courses, one that covers teaching businessmen and another that addresses teaching children.

I plan on combining knowledge of teaching in the classroom with online.

I completed the basic course of 120 plus the Business English and Teach English to Young Learners courses.
I found them all well structured, giving you a very good background.
You will be equipped with a deep well of language knowledge and teaching skills ranging from lesson planning to classroom management and beyond.
At the end of each unit there are exercises which you can practise before taking the test to move on to the next unit.
I highly recommend taking this course if you want to teach abroad.
I think I will also enrol in the 250-hour diploma course.

Amazing course! super complete, dynamic and professional. It covers every possible scenario of teaching, problems you might encounter, types of students, different teaching methods, etc. It gives you great up-to-date tools to provide outstanding teaching.
I truly believe that the course covers absolutely everything you need to know about teaching. I would totally recommend it to people looking for superb on-line training. I was impressed by how well explained everything was and how every single detail was covered. Although there were many things that I had already studied, the ITTT course showed me a different perspective to it, it gave me new and fresh ideas on how to teach the difficult areas of the English language.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

Nothing! I truly believe that the course covers absolutely everything you need to know about teaching.

I have just completed the 120-hour course. The site is user-friendly and the course is quite comprehensive. You will observe that the units were written by experts. The exams really test your understanding and the summative task is challenging and somehow makes you proud once done. There are a lot of cheaper alternatives to ITTT but this is legit and accredited world-wide, so it's worth every penny. I'll certainly become more confident in teaching English. Overall, I am satisfied with my TEFL course at ITTT.

I have 10 years teaching experience in the US. What certificate would I need to teach English in Greece?

I'm not sure if there is a different certificate required to teach English in Greece but I do know the certification I have is called the TEFL certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). Maybe that's what the person will need to teach English there, in addition to other documents.

Why did you choose this program?

Well, a number of factors motivated me to choose this course.

To begin with, I completed my graduation and post-graduation on economics. However, I teach English because I am good at it although I don't have any certification. That's why I was searching for one for me.

I thought this course matched my interest very much. I could do it at my own pace.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

Well, I took the course without any tutor. So, I didn't get any assistance directly from the tutor. However, the course materials they provided are so lucid and elucidating that I didn't have that many questions to ask. Sometimes, I browsed through some sites as suggested in the materials. Besides, whenever I wanted to know something, I dropped emails and found them instantly.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

I would say that anyone, who would like to undertake the course, should have the basics of the English language to draw the best out of the course. It's due to the fact that one has to understand the approach and the intended tone of the author of the materials to do well in the tests. Most importantly, it's about developing quality, not understanding only.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

It's entirely up to the individuals. As far as I am concerned, this course is very helpful for all kinds of participants, mostly for those with jobs. It's because there's no making haste when it comes to taking tests. It's really student-friendly and so less burdensome for the students. Thus, learning will be according to the will of the students.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

Well, although I haven't moved to another country to teach English, I have had to move to another city far away from my hometown. One thing I found very challenging is the cultural differences alongside the language. Sometimes, I have to get stuck understanding the way my students speak. However, I managed to get through by spending time out just to observe their lifestyle and talk to those who came here earlier.

What makes the ITTT Online TEFL Course a powerful tool for those interested in teaching abroad?

Matt: Taking a month out of your life to take an onsite TEFL course is something we all wish we could do. The reality however, is that often the time and finance just isn’t there to be able to do so. If the TEFL field was only open to those able to do this, it would become a very elitist field indeed. ITTT’s online TEFL course allows everybody the chance to take gain certification. Our students can work from the comfort of their own home, at their own pace, in their own time. Things come up in life, and when they do it often isn’t possible to sit for hours at a time to complete an assignment. With ITTT’s online courses, you have the luxury of putting your work to the back of your mind when needed and coming back to it when you can give it your best effort. It also provides you with the same amount of knowledge and skills required to gain the TEFL certificate and go out and start your career.

What services does ITTT offer graduates after course completion?

Matt: With many companies, your experience stops as soon as the certificate is issued. ITTT prides itself on the service it offers not only throughout the course, but after completion also. Somebody from ITTT is available throughout your TEFL career. This may be advice and assistance with job placement, general questions about the TEFL field, advice on lesson planning or resources and even just somebody to hear you out and give advice on the general frustrations and difficulties that may arise in the classroom. All of our tutors have been on the same journey as our students and had the same problems when starting out, so we are ideally placed to try and help however we can. There is no time limit or deadline for when your tutors' help will expire, they are available throughout your TEFL career and just an email away at all times.

What are the most popular teaching destinations of ITTT graduates?

Matt: This really depends on where the graduates are from. We have graduates from all over the world and a common theme is for them to want to explore a new environment. This means we probably have a lot of graduates passing each other while swapping locations! South America, South East Asia, Japan, Korea, China and the Middle East are all popular locations. Some graduates are attracted by the high paying jobs in the Middle East while some graduates are more interested in the beauty and excitement of countries like Vietnam, Thailand and Laos in South East Asia, or Brazil, Chile and Ecuador in South America. Countries like Korea, Japan and China offer a culture and lifestyle which can seem completely alien and unique to western graduates, which is certainly a massive appeal. Some graduates, particularly from countries like the United States like to stay where they are and teach English to minorities in their home country.

What is one piece of advice you would offer someone considering this Online TEFL Course?

Matt: I think the main bit of advice I can offer someone considering taking an online TEFL course with ITTT is that you will get out of the course exactly what you put into it. If you take the time to go through our extensive course materials carefully and thoroughly learn all the material put to you, your work will be rewarded. This doesn't just mean you will receive a high grade you can be proud of, it also means that you will always have the knowledge and understanding to cope with any problem that may arise in the classroom. If you do the bare minimum to merely the pass course and gain your certificate, you may find that you are lacking when it comes to problems in the classroom. Our materials are not given just to help you pass the course, they are written to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to forge a successful career as a TEFL teacher.
