On TEFL courses

My experience was unique with TEFL courses. The practical part and task-based nature of the course can help me a lot in real life teaching situations. There is a practical side behind every good theory. In a sense that Ss know for sure that s/he can use what s/he has learnt in real life situations. If applicability is limited to the four walls of the classroom, then it is only good for special occasions.

Whenever all the pillars of teaching are present, there will be no barriers on the way of teaching and learning. There exist T(s), ELL(s), objective, and the most important of all application. There is a clear and vivid one to one correspondence between classroom activities and real life activities. They can be expanded and abridged. Ss can give comments on them and use them in related context.

What would you improve about this program?
If I were one of the course designers, I will add more examples and situations which demand the use of four major skills- S, L, R, and W.

International TEFL Course & Job Search Guidance with ITA

I learned more than I thought and found confidence in possibility of being a teacher. I never considered teaching so the possibility and thought was outrageous. But I love traveling and want to see other places, I figured if there’s a way to travel and earn money at the same time while not. I cannot wait for the experience and what I will learn in the process.
The teacher was helpful and provided feedback that improved my work every week. The resources are amazing and you have access to answers for questions you didn’t even know you had. The school was recommended by a former college classmate she loves teaching right now and her experience inspired me to consider. I myself can say it was worth it and I plan on recommending it to as many people as I can.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Go for it. It would be worth the expense and experience to come.

ESL academy

I really enjoyed taking this online class. It has great instructors and good material. I highly recommend taking this course if you want to be a certified ESL teacher. This course has all the right material you need to learn about learning how to teach as an ESL teacher. It will teach you how to plan lessons, cultural sensitivity, different learning approaches and much more. The Academy will even help you land a job after you complete the course so I definitely recommend this course. The instructors are great and the support staff are very helpful. This course is affordable and can really build your resume having this certification. I think it is great for students, retirees, or anyone looking to travel to distant countries and teach English.

What would you improve about this program?
I would improve nothing. It was great. I think it was great exactly how it is and I would not change a thing.

Best TEFL course you could ever take

I normally never write reviews but I truly believe ITA deserves a glowing review because of how amazing this certificate school is. They are so approachable, helpful, clear and offer a solid network of alumni that help's you take the next realistic steps into moving overseas. This course was easy enough to do well in but hard enough that you actually learned a lot and feel more confident in teaching overseas. It is set up in a easy to use way, consisting of a straight from the text book quiz(s), non critiqued personal opinion peer participation question and a larger homework assignment that is straightforward and doable. The people I have come in contact with have all been very kind, honest and real so you feel cared for and not left in the cold especially with all the questions you have regarding the process of teaching overseas, which can be incredibly daunting. I was doing a lot of research about which TEFL course would be the best and I am so glad I chose ITA...would take it again in a heartbeat if I needed certification. As someone who is always reading reviews, I hope this helps some people who are on the fence take the ITA plunge and get's them started on their overseas teaching adventure! :) good luck and God bless!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Do your research on the country you are going to be living in. Make friends with people from there while you are still at home, try to learn the language, eat the food and just become the most prepared you can be. Also when it comes to this course, buy the physical book and fill it with notes so you can take it with you overseas.

Valuable TEFL course

I recommend International TEFL Academy for anyone who wants to teach overseas. The In-Person practicum is required for many countries including South Korea, and International TEFL Academy provides great resources and support even from a distance. The tools I gained helped me immensely in teaching abroad in South Korea. Although the course was online, I still felt connected to the instructor and the other students who were taking my class with me.

What would you improve about this program?
More job search functions would be nice. Networking opportunities specifically for online students who are unable to attend physical class.

Go Abroad with Ease with ITA!

I started my online TEFL course with ITA in April 2017 and completed by July 2017. The online course was convenient for those who work full time jobs, and the directions for each assignment were easy to understand. I also appreciate that they required me to complete a practicum, by volunteering to teach English somewhere in my local community. Teaching Spanish and Arabic speakers was a good first step to prepare me for going abroad.

They also helped me prepare my resume and gather all the necessary documents to work in Korea. They provided recommended recruiters and websites, and once I got a job offer, they helped me review my contract. Overall, it was a great experience, and I will be using their help again to find my next job in Taiwan or elsewhere!

What would you improve about this program?
I would have preferred a bit more one on one contact from the online course instructor and a bit more information on the recommended time to start searching for a job, but overall I still had a great experience.

The best decision I've ever made

I've been wanting to teach in South Korea for about 4 years now, and I finally plucked up the courage to get a TEFL certification. Although the price is steep, IT IS SO WORTH IT. ITA is responsive, comprehensive, engaging, challenging, and rewarding! I did the online course because I was in my last year of Bachelors and, although the workload was appropriately large, I never felt overwhelmed, and spent 10 weeks learning. I would recommend this program, no question.

Pretty helpful before teaching abroad

After doing Americorps for a year and researching which was the best TEFL School. I decided to do my TEFL with ITA. I did the in person class and it was pretty challenging and intense. I was pretty tired but after that one month. I felt ready to start my teaching experience abroad. I went to South Korea and taught elementary and middle school students for 2 years. ITA was helpful from the beginning until the end. They are honest and provide you with a lot of information. I highly recommend investing in your TEFL with ITA, if you don't have a BA in Education. By doing so, you will gain confidence and feel ready to go abroad.

Questions & Answers

Hi Kerry, you'll need a 4-year university degree to teach in countries that require a degree. There's a lot of countries that don't require a university degree, so if you're a native/fluent English speaker, you'd have plenty of options if you get TEFL certified!
