• Chiang Mai Flower Festival (February) -If you choose to extend your stay in Thailand, specifically in Chiang Mai, you can experience this festival in full bloom. In February, Chiang Mai explodes with beautiful blossoms along with a big floral parade. Now wonder Chiang Mai is known as the “Rose of the North.
• Songkran - Water Festival - Thai New Year (April) - Who doesn’t love a big water fight to cool down? Stay in Thailand longer and experience this country wide water fight to mark one of the most significant Buddhist holidays in Thailand!
• Bang Fai Phaya - Naga Fireballs Festival (October) - By October you’ll have completed your TEFL training, are now teaching and have made some friends to attend this mysterious festival with. Every year, on a full moon, mysterious balls of fire rise into sky from the Mekong River around Nong Khai, and science can’t explain it! Thai folklore suggests nagas (serpents that live in the river), send the fireballs to call Buddha back down to Earth and signify the end of lent.
• Yi Peng Festival (November) -This is a festival of lights and has become synonymous with Chiang Mai (where you’re doing your internship). It takes place over three days and includes cultural activities, religious events, street parades and of course the release of fire lanterns. The release of the lanterns to to release bad memories, pay respect to Buddha and make a wish for the future.
