An amazing experience

An amazing experience that I would recommend to any college student seeking experience in the field for their resume. With the help of Global Experiences, they selected the ideal placement for me as an interning writer for the digital media outlet FM Hip-Hop. Even though the internship was virtual, GE offered me plenty of chances to meet other interns from various industries and fields and allowed us to share stories about our experiences as well as advice. Throughout my program GE reached out to me consistently to make sure I was entirely satisfied, and now at the end of my program I can without a doubt say that I was.

What would you improve about this program?
My only regret was that due to the virtual nature of the program, I missed out on the chance to travel to somewhere really unique. Regardless, I still think a virtual is a great option for anyone.

Professional Experience

The experience helped develop my professional skills and introduce me to working for a business-oriented company. The GE staff was so helpful and always was there for anything. A bi-weekly meeting kept everyone engaged and allowed for a great opportunity to network and learn about other's experiences. I also enjoyed the content that GE provided virtually including an art and cooking session. I don't think there would have been a better program, especially for how convenient GE made the whole process.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
Even though my virtual internship was super fulfilling, I would have loved to travel if I got another chance. The time difference and working remotely are not the same as in-person, but I still think a virtual is a great option.

Awesome Virtual Internship

Global Experiences found a great internship for me at Dublin City University. The overall experience was really useful in terms of personal and professional development. I think the skills learned working virtually are vital in the modern workplace and this was an opportunity to master them.
It was also really nice to have the opportunity to network with other interns. Global Experiences made sure that even though the internship was online, there was lots of opportunity to get to know people in your fields and other fields, and share your experiences and learn from others' experiences.

Amazing Program

I had such a great experience interning with Barcelona Wedding this summer. The placement process was so smooth and they do all the work for you to find a company and role to help you achieve your internship goals. The team also gives you the tools you need to succeed in an international virtual internship and are always there to help you. Although I couldn't travel to Barcelona and work in-person, the virtual events and constant communication with my supervisor, other students and staff made this virtual program so rewarding!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I did this program again, I would love to go in person and experience all that Barcelona has to offer!

Virtual Internships

I interned with Shamrock School, Nepal through global experiences’ virtual internship program. This was an entirely new experience for me, as it was my first ever internship. It was also a virtual one, which was quite disappointing at first, but turned out to be a great journey nevertheless. I thought the virtual internship program was great and everyone was extremely supportive and motivational. As an intern, I was constantly re-assured that I shouldn’t be nervous to reach out for help whenever I needed it. This support made my overall experience extremely enjoyable and kept me motivated!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I wouldn’t necessarily change anything per se, but I would definitely like to complete a non-virtual to internship. While my experience was great, it would’ve definitely been more memorable had it been in person. However, it had to be virtual due to the ongoing pandemic :(

10 out of 10

Great program for those looking for experience to gain in desired field.

Every process was super clear. Staff was friendly and easy to reach out.

My host company was amazing. Supervisor was supportive and accommodating. A great learning experience for me to gain insight on what I wanted to do in the future.

Weekly events is a huge help to fill in the gap of being virtual. Mid-point checks are also helpful in terms of understanding job performance.

Above all, it is a 10/10. Will recommend.

A Smooth Process

The GE team made navigating the application and interview processes very smooth. I could easily set up meetings to talk, and everyone was enthusiastic about my questions and concerns. I was walked through the process very clearly so I always knew what to expect. That was helpful for me so I felt like I had a sense of control. I was also given a lot of options for when my program was transitioned from being in person in Italy to virtual. It was a pleasure working with the team to make the most of my internship.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
While my program was virtual, my advice for anyone would be that its okay to not know something during your internship. It is okay to ask questions and be unfamiliar with tasks. You are there to learn!

Great experience!

Awesome way to spend my summer! The program's biweekly instructions offered strong support and pointers about thriving in the professional world. I was placed with an NGO perfect for my interests and experience, and am grateful to have forged connections and built skills that I'll carry with me as I build my career in the future!
