Responded amazingly well to a bad situation

My host family- who had two au pairs that loved them before- turned out to be a bad fit. The mother was going through something personal and started coping by verbally abusing her staff and children. I talked to Aida (with Au Pair In Spain) about the situation when I got concerned. Since she knew the family, but not me, I assumed she would take their side. She heard from both me and the mother, mediated the issue, and ended up intervening on my behalf. She pulled me out immediately and let me live with her in her home(!) until we found a new family for me, taking that family off the list. She sat with me each day after I went to interviews and personally helped me decide on which family would work best for me. Aida's support amazed me. She went out of her way to make me feel safe, comfortable, and respected. Amazing agency!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
They're there to help! Ask them whatever you need. When I was over there, my home agency told me that they were MY advocate, while the host country's agency was mostly there for the family. That ended up not being true at all. Aida was an amazing liaison and helped both me and the family with whatever we needed.

review of Au pair agency

I was an Au pair in Madrid for 6 months and the service of the agency could not have been any better. The communication and willingness to help me was fantastic. once i was in Madrid the advice and expertise Aida was able to give me were invaluable. From helping with which language school to go to and constantly finding out how my experience was going with the family. Also the agency had a large list of families so i truly belie it is possible for anyone to find a family that they would like to live with.
overall a superb agency to use.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Really make an effort to make friends with Spanish locals as your experience will be even better.

AU PAIR IN SPAIN - An experience like no other

The Spanish culture and its people is such an enjoyable combination to indulge oneself in. If living the European dream while working as an au pair and meeting people from all over the world (Yes, Madrid is a world city with people from everywhere!!!) sounds ideal, this is the program for you. The perfect balance between work, a cultural experience and socializing. Aida and her office is also super accomodating and lovely people to get to know! Truly an once in a lifetime opportunity one should not pass by!

Great experience in Spain

My experience with Au Pair in Spain was great. To begin with the administration was very quick to reply and made the whole process a breeze. I really appreciate when a company is on top of that, as waiting around can be such a hustle. The overall experience was also a great opportunity to be able to live abroad and improve your Spanish, while also experiencing the culture of the country in its purest form, by living with a Spanish family. All round great company to au pair through and also ensure that each family and au pair is comfortable.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice to anyone else undertaking in the program would be to really try and immerse yourself in the families culture, try and join families on all their outings and try to only speak in Spanish. Also be respectful because just as you are in an unfamilar environment, its also unfamilar to the family as well, so keep an open mind.
