About Program

In this eight-week summer program, students will study abroad in Rome, Italy, and experience the history and architecture of this ancient, yet vibrant, city. Courses will include design studio, as well as media for design development and the the architecture and art history of Rome in context, and the program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Special emphasis will be placed on the interplay of light and heat and its effect on structures, as well as designing to accommodate for these elements.

Students will live together in Rome in shared apartments within convenient distance to the classroom and studio spaces, as well as restaurants, markets and entertainment. Coursework will be equivalent to 12 quarter or 9 semester credits.
