About Program

We only offer one course because we want all our students to have the best access to global TEFL opportunities. Our course leads to a Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168 hours), regulated by Ofqual (UK) and the DEAC (US) so it’s regulated by 2 government bodies!

I have minimal experience with learning English, so completing the course was very beneficial for me. I learned many new things. In the course, all the necessary information was clearly and comprehensibly explained and the tasks were interesting and beneficial. What I liked the most was that I had plenty of time to work at my own pace and I didn't have to worry about deadlines. If I needed to ask something, I had the opportunity to contact the tutor who gave me feedback. Overall, I evaluate the course positively and I recommend it to beginning teachers and non-native speakers.

TEFL is something that is unique to the world, it's a very well put together program to help those who want to teach and help those who want to learn learn. This was a very good thing for me to try as i have been looking for a new job and I'm excited to try and see what the world has planned for me. If you are looking into teaching programs then this is something that i would recommend for everyone to try.

this program has helped me learn new things when it comes to teaching and now i can teach in an open and safe space.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?

1000 year old egg, was an interesting experience and I enjoyed it

I was recommended by my school's HOD to opt for this course during my summer break. I was really excited and wanted to complete this 6-month course during my summer break itself. The best part of this course that I loved the most was the test after each Unit. It was not easy but was really interesting and brainstorming. The only thing I wanted in this course was a tutor who could explain to us how to do the assignments with few examples. Though instructions were quite clear for the assignments, I feel doing the assignments under the tutor's guidance might have helped me a lot more. The course is perfect enough to give an add-on to our qualifications.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

Instead of just reading the course, I would like a tutor to explain us. This will help us to do our assignments in a much easy way.

If you are looking for a professional and easy to use platform that provides insightful information and challenging assignments - I would urge you to take a look at the Level 5 courses on The TEFL Academy (TTA).

As I have been through this particular level of UK academia before, I can say with confidence that the quality of the material is absolutely on par with Undergrad/HND frameworks in the UK, and the depth and range of some of the topics are really fantastic.

Overall, a solid foundational/intermediate course that covers all of the keys skills and knowledge for any new TEFL Teacher.

What would you improve about this program?

There is one particular Unit that just feels extremely long to compete. There is nothing wrong with the information, nor a problem with the relevance of the topic...

Using some more of the interactive functions during this unit would help break it up a bit.

I’ve already had some teaching experiences but taking this course was a leap forward. Different aspects of EFL teaching are covered in each unit. The activities are easy to follow and the tests are so well-designed. The assignments are challenging but at the same time super beneficial. There is clear instruction for each plus samples. The tutors are so supportive and they provide you with constructive feedback on each assignments. No matter how experienced you are in TEFL I believe taking this course can help you improve your career.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course. I found the course easy to navigate and the course material engaging and stimulating. It allows for people who have no prior teaching experience to learn teaching methods, learn multiple ways to engage with students from varying ages and how to use teaching aids. The regular tests gave me a good idea of my progress and ability. The course is incredibly well structured and detailed which leaves little room for confusion. I was fortunate to have the best tutors who marked my assignments. They were always so encouraging and well informed and gave detailed feedback. Overall, I would definitely 100% recommend The TEFL Academy to my friends!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

Submitting my first assignment. It took me two weeks of revising and re-revising and an extra four days to gain the courage to press submit. How did I overcome it? By counting too three and reminding myself that tutors are only a ticket away to clear any confusion.

I thought it would be a good idea to have an international certification from a recognized institution, since I am looking to move abroad and continue my teaching career in another country. I wanted a serious course, not something that could be done in your sleep but not impossibly demanding either. The TEFL Academy provides just that. It was fun to be a student again and navigate through the visually appealing content, discover new things.. Assignments as well as tests require a thorough understanding - that's what makes it worth your time! It is challenging but I also felt guided and supported all the time. No prior teaching knowledge is required, however, an advanced level of English is.. All in all, taking this course was a decision I'm congratulating myself for!

What was your funniest moment?

Writing my assignment documents felt almost like doing my thesis again hahaha! I was constantly going back and forth through all the documents, probably unnecessarily.

During this Coronavirus pandemic almost the whole world switched to online, studying included. Being able to continue following your plans regardless of the situation is a luxury and I'm glad I had this chance. Studying at The TEFL Academy was... challenging at times, and yet it was productive. I had already had some experience before I started the course but found it informative and useful. It's well-designed and it tries its best to make you a good/better teacher. And their staff is very friendly!

What would you improve about this program?

Perhaps adding an option for people who already have experience would be comfortable, as some fundamentals were too obvious.

Why did you choose this program?

Because of geological location; however, the reason I chose this particular program was in part due to it looking more official than the others. On my trip to a foreign country (South Korea), I was told by my friend that I was very knowledgeable about what I knew and wondered how I would do at teaching. With my current job, it made sense with the way the program was laid out.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The provider assisted with making me dig deeper into what I already knew about the subjects; on my own, it was up to me to decide mine on topics' materials for every assignment (the provider also assisted in the matter by providing templates). When it came to reviews, the assessor assisted in what I need to improve and what was good, if not great.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

If I had to give advice to someone that wanted this program, it would be to take their time. Although it can be done as quickly as needed, I would recommend them to take their time. Rushing will make them impatient and the longer lessons seem daunting, making one miss the simple things one already knows.

Be prepared to not have reviews on some of the lessons, as it will seem as they are abundant in the beginning.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

An average day, as it is an online course, is, however, the students want it to be. However, I would recommend doing half a lesson in 2 to 3 days, then the other. Even so, that is still pushing it for those who are struggling; spending 1 hr a day may be enough, depending on how much one covers in that hour.

I myself tried to cover a lesson a day; in the beginning, it worked out fine, until you get to the longer lessons; then you have to take into account the assignments, which would take almost a week to perform properly.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

When going abroad, I was fearing that I would not be able to answer the questions that were being asked. But after a while, I felt more comfortable about that.

There are still times I feel I would not have the answer to some questions, but I am comfortable now that, if asked a question I don't know, I could easily answer it with the appropriate response.

Is there any type of information you would like to point out to others?

Yes. I would point out that it would be a good idea to find out what requirements one needs for the teaching job they want. It is important to note that there is paperwork that is needed as well when going abroad that needs to be taken into account. These two things are easily missed in the thought process.

What is your favorite travel memory?

One of my favourite travel memories is when I was in Croatia with a friend and we decided to venture in Bosnia Herzegovina for a few days. We stayed in a crazy hostel, with even crazier owners! They brought us to a rave in a cave which was so much fun. The next day we got to explore Mostar and we also traveled to Sarajevo and did a walking tour. It was so interesting!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Getting to work for The TEFL Academy has given me opportunity to grow in many different ways. I speak to a range of different people from different places daily which is really interesting and sometimes we do have little chats about where in the world we are! I've also significantly improved my geography, which is handy!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

My favourite stories are from teachers who teach young learners. The students get so attached to their teachers and they always have gifts from them that the children have made! I love to see the photos also; we often share these on our social media (with consent). It's a good way to show current and future students the opportunities out there when they get their qualifications.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would love to go on our Vietnam internship! I've always wanted to travel to Vietnam because it does look absolutely beautiful, but the internship sounds like a very rewarding one also. Getting to travel the world by also helping those to further their future prospects is an amazing opportunity.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I think our company is unique in many different ways. Our organization is special because we really do believe in the power of education. We all, in some way or another, have traveled to many different places across the world, and the majority of us have taught also. This gives us a real insight into the actual world of TEFL and the teachers.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Being successful means a lot of different things for different people. I think a successful company really values what they are intending to do, and I believe The TEFL Academy does it in every way. My hope for our organization is that it grows and expands to cover all across the world! Providing a course that helps individuals to further themselves but also to educate others is something that is very special.
