I have used many different sites to advertise my services to potential students and TeacherFinder is by far the most personal and reliable. Within a few days of arriving in Brussels I was set up with two new students wanting numerous regular sessions per week, and we have got on very well due to the fact that TeacherFinder matches you with students that have similar interests. I love the fact that you are speaking with real people who are there to help and not some automated machine, which makes the entire process completely stress-free. I can’t recommend TeacherFinder enough!

Great tool to help out foreigners and make a little extra on the side

I love working with Teacher Finder. They're always quickly to respond, and are very open to helping you, no matter your request. The students are all very smart and learn quickly, which makes the process of teaching a lot more fun. So overall I'm really happy to work together with Teacher Finder. If you're looking for Dutch lessons in Amsterdam, be sure to contact them and they'll put you in touch with some very skilled teachers!

Amazing Teacher Finder

This company is the greatest ever. Not only they do the match with the students but also they ask for reviews, they care if everything is ok, the staff is there always. The paper work is so easy and the students I've got so far are awesome. I am currently living in Barcelona and I've been receiving a match almost every week. I would recommend everybody to work with Andrew and Liisi! Thanks for everything :)

I've worked with a few similar student->teacher matching organizations while I've been teaching and TeacherFinder has been by far the most effective and communicative. Their matching is efficient and they've always been quick to communicate and interact.
So far all the students I have met thru the programme have been pleasant and (importantly) self-motivated.
You lose the benefits of having a school structure with resources and classrooms, but what you gain in flexibility and independence of teaching are more than worth it.

The Teacher Finder programme is a great, intuitively easy service for matching students with teachers.
Pricing matrix offers transparency and reflects market rates.
The Teacher Finder team are helpful, supportive and always available.
Special mention to Andrew who epitomises excellent customer service.
The amount of hours you wish to work are self determined and the back office technical delivery ensures the process is seamless.
Highly recommend this programme.

Great way to connect with students

Teacher Finder is a great service for finding students. The process is really easy, the students you get are dedicated and the pricing and fees are really transparent and fair. The team at Teacher Finder match you with students that suit your teaching style and availability and you do the rest! The team is ready to support you in all aspects of the teaching like how to communicate with students, how to negotiate fees as well as providing tips on being a freelance English Teacher. You can work as much or as little as you want or need and the team will adjust new matches according to your schedule that you can update on their easy to use the system. I really recommend Teacher Finder if you are looking to get into the TESL freelancer life!

A+ experience with Teacher Finder

I have had a wonderful experience with Teacher Finder. When I first moved to Prague, I didn't know what the work environment would be like and the best ways to seek teaching gigs. I made an account with Teacher Finder and hoped for the best. It took several weeks, but I was eventually linked with a student. It is a perfect match and they are great people to work with. Teacher Finder was able to match me with students I otherwise don't think I would have found. I'm hoping Teacher Finder can link me with more students soon!

I highly recommend Teacher Finder for any freelance teachers looking to pick up lessons.

What would you improve about this program?
More exposure to potential students so more jobs are offered. I only have one connection through Teacher Finder at the moment and it is working out very well.

Teacher Finder has been the best company to work with.
In the past I worked with a few other online teaching platforms and I must say that Teacher Finder is the most professional, clarity and understanding is always present, staff response time is excellent and the students I have met are truly extraordinary.

Flexibility, honesty and very different from the factory type of companies out there.
I look forward to a great future with Teacher Finder!

Why did you choose this program?

Honestly, I was looking for something that would give me some flexibility to teach without feeling pressured. It also seemed like a very good option given the fact that I was new to the city, Budapest, and the environment. I had nothing to loose, and this seemed like a good opportunity to meet some students and build a basis for a stable income.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

They assisted me with the introduction of students, pre-assessing their needs and requirements via a questionnaire filled in by the student. This was all done by e-mail, at which point they would introduce me, and say that I would be in touch. Not only did this offer reassurance to the student, but allowed me to build a rapport very quickly when we were in contact. From this I organized the lesson times, and receipt of payment.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

If you've ever done a CELTA, it's nothing like that. Also be yourself, that's the most important thing.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

It really depends on how much you want to do. I was lucky in the sense that being introduced to the students I was, they have all continued to have lessons with me. An average week can be busy, but you never have to do more work than you want. It's important to remember that the students are flexible, but that means you have to be too. Sometimes there are some early mornings and late nights.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

My biggest fear was that I had never lived in a foreign capital city before. I wondered if it would be too manic, but Budapest isn't like that. It's a beautiful place, and walking around it put my mind at ease very quickly.

Can you earn a living wage here?

You can, but you have to work for it, obviously. The wages are relatively low in Hungary so be prepared for that. But, the cost of living is definitely lower.

Paying tax can be a tough thing to sort out. One option is a KATA, which is basically when you are self-employed but pay a monthly flat rate (50,000Ft). This is usually a preferred option, as to employ someone in a company is very expensive for the employer.

Seriously, seek the help of a Hungarian person if you want help with this.

What is your favorite travel memory?

I have had the chance to travel quite a bit, either for holiday or work-related, but some of my favorite travels have been for pleasure with my friends, when I got to enjoy exploring new places while having great company by my side.

Some of my favorite travel memories would be the Budapest-Berlin-Amsterdam-Budapest trip, Barcelona, Lisbon, Split, and Biograd na Moru.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Even though I have only started working for Teacher Finder Ltd. a few months ago, I already had the chance to learn quite a lot about how the company works, the teachers that collaborate with us, and what is it that I can do to make their work easier.

It is also pretty cool to get to learn how to use a web automation app and to realize that is not as scary as I thought.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I think what makes Teacher Finder unique is the relationships that people have with each other.

It is a friendly and casual environment to work in, and is a relationship built on friendship and trust.

You also get to build a friendly relationship with the teachers that you work with, same as with the students that request our services, even though you never (or almost never) get to meet them in person. Nonetheless, we do our best effort to make sure everyone is happy and satisfied with our work.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I think the biggest factor in being a successful company is being passionate about what you do, which is reflected in the way you implement your work.
